Ariba! Ariba! Mexican street food... in the centre of Leeds

Three months off... tres naughty!

However lots of coming posts full of delicious treats and feasts for the eyes, from restaurants, to bars to festivals with plenty of recommendations in various different cities.

Having shuffled back over to the epicentre of West Yorkshire to a new job in Leeds, I arrived at the same time as the new Trinity Leeds Shopping Centre (how convenient).

I'm swiftly working my way round all the brand new eateries and cocktail caves but after a lovely few weeks of actual Summer sunshine headed to Cielo Blanco, a Mexican restaurant on the top floor of the centre.

Described as an "authentic Mexican experience" we were seated outside on a warm evening, ordering una cerveza modelo and a detox super juice for me (driving) with raspberries, cucumber, pomegranate, lemon, elderflower and soda from the vast drinks menu. The juice is made from locally sourced fruit and veg and was really refreshing, but next time I will definitely be trying a cocktail or three.

So the grub. After delving into their menu which was beautifully designed in a metal ring bound cover and patterned inner combination, we chose the "street food experience" for £10.95 each (minimum of 2 people). Picking 6 plates of the street food, we selected a variety including: Mexican pulled pork tacos, chicken tinga quesadillas, rump steak tostados, spicy prawn tostados, root vegetable empanadas and the squash and beetroot salad.

Complimentary chips & dips - winner!

Root veg empanadas & squash salad

Eyes bigger than our bellies - tacos, quesadillas & tostados

The portions were more than enough for two, we left feeling suitable stuffed but not in an unhealthy way and for £30 total it didn't break the bank either.

The décor really fits into their Mexican experience ethos and on a nice day is almost like taking a mini holiday... even in Yorkshire.
