Started makin' trouble in my Neighbourhood - bringing New York to Manchester.

Whilst over in Manchester for the Jessie Ware gig, I took the opportunity to have lunch with my very good friend. We've been to cute and kitsch cafe come restaurants like Home Sweet Home/Jack Spratts/Common and loved them, but wanted to check out somewhere different.

My friend recommended Oast House or Neighbourhood in Spinningfields. It was a toughy when I'd checked out both of the menus but we went for Neighbourhood, mainly because I saw Lobster on the menu! (Next time Oast House!)

Fresh Lobsters at Neighbourhood

Described on Neighbourhoods website "A New York Eatery and Bar Inspired by Manhattan's Definitive Neighbourhoods. Honing their unique take on casual fine dining, luxury ingredients and industrial chic aesthetics in the heart of Spinningfields." Having been to New York a couple of years ago, Neighbourhood definitely has the Manhattan "vibe". A little intimidated on arrival, as there were a lot of suits having business lunches and the decor is so beautifully chic, we were seated parallel to the intricate bar that touched the ceiling, on high seats and a mirrored table - cue fun reflection photos! Relaxing and mellow, the waitress was attentive but could have been slightly more cheery. Not that we were put off, the service was spot on.

Myself and one of our friends had the Lobster rolls with fries (proper chips), my sister went for the steak salad and my other friend had the longest club sandwich I've ever seen. The lobster was fresh and chunky, in what was almost like a toasted sweet hot dog bun and creamy mayonnaise. Whilst the club was completely more-ish, luckily my friend couldn't finish so I got a taste!

Apparently the evening menus can be a little on the pricey side but we thought the food was totally reasonable for lunch time and it wouldn't put me off if the food was equally as delish! I'd really like to check out Neighbourhood again, especially in the evening for the cocktails or for their infamous "Brunch Club" to see if you really do get a little taste of a New York atmosphere right in the heart of Manchester.

To take a look at their menus have a look on their website:

We ate: Classy sandwiches and proper chips!
We Drank: Just soft drinks after the night before.
We Talked about: My friend's wedding and wedding make up
Selling point: Lovely lunch for a reasonable price with a taste of NYC chucked in.
