A couple of weeks ago I had the extreme pleasure of going to see
Jessie Ware at the HMV Ritz in Manchester.

Jessie Ware |
The HMV Ritz is an old music theatre venue located near Oxford Road train station, and as Jessie put it "looks beautiful, stinks of ****." You could see and smell what she meant but I really prefer smaller venues (sign of age) they give a more intimate feel, I can see without my glasses and you feel a certain bond with the crowd all huddled in together. The Ritz had an upper balcony and we were stood on the lower growd near the stage with the smallest (height wise) crowd I've ever seen, brilliant for us as its a real bug bear sometimes when watching bands.

I first stumbled upon Jessie after hearing Wildest moments on Radio One and loved her voice along with the specific haunting sound that seems to be around the moment. We weren't disappointed at all, Jessie did a full rendition of her album Devotion, with a new track from herself and Julio Bashmore. Jessie was not only incredibly talented and beautiful, her voice was even better live, but she was also extremely witty and sweet which I loved. A big selection of her family were there to support her, and she was jokey even mid-song showing just how down to earth she is.
Favourite song of the night was definitely Taking in Water which is about her brother and looking after him, so it was lovely that I was there with my sister! Here's a wee clip of Nightlight from the gig, enjoy!
Hopefully I'll catch her at a few more festivals this Summer...
We ate: An M&S meal on the train - oh the glamour!
We Drank: Cider, what else at a gig!
We Talked about: Being possibly the tallest people at a gig ever
Selling point: Jessie being incredibly funny and her beautiful yet cool voice
